In search of Scarlett

One of my favourite parts of Sofia Coppola's film Lost in Translation is where the beautiful waif that the young Scarlett Johansson was, goes in search of herself in Kyoto. One of the featured shrines she visits is the Fushimi-Inari-Taisha. It winds up a steep hill south east of the city and consists of literally thousands of orange coloured shrine gates. I am attaching a series of photos I took as we walked up on a sunny Christmas Day afternoon while we built up an appetite for dinner. I didn't see Scarlett, which was a pity, but the mountain was beautiful anyway.
